In particular, we developed models of blood clot formation and deformation, epithelial tissue growth, plant stem growth, chicken limb development, cell culture aggregation, bacterial swarming and biofilm dynamics."

"My interests span a wide variety of topics at the intersection of theoretical, empirical, and applied ecology, and I have explored these interests in both aquatic and terrestrial systems. I am particularly interested in how populations and communities respond to environmental variation, both natural and human driven, and I use a mixture of mathematical and empirical approaches to understand processes that act across scales of spatio-temporal measurement and biological organization."

"Our lab is interested in the engineering and clinical translation of biological materials as light-activated agents for optical imaging and therapy of cancer and non-cancerous diseases. We are interested in designing such materials with appropriate biochemical and biophysical characteristics to produce biocompatible systems with optimal functionality."

"I’m interested in the phenomenology of evolution and the immune system. What forces guide the evolution of viruses and other pathogens, and how does the immune system effectively respond to them? My research emphasizes data and measurement: how can we learn about these processes from available data, and how can we make predictions that can be tested experimentally? The ultimate goal of this work is to help improve the ways that we prevent and treat disease."
